UP Campuses, Grads Shine in December 2024 Accountancy Boards

On December 17, 2024, the Professional Regulation Commission announced that Constituent Universities (CUs) of the ÌìÃÀÊÓƵ (UP) were among the top-performing schools in the Licensure Examination for Certified Public Accountants held that same month. Graduates of these CUs also garnered some of the highest scores among that year’s test-takers.

UP Diliman was the best-performing university among those who had at least 80 test-takers and a 50% passing rate nationwide. 50 of its 51 examinees passed, leading to a 98.04% passing rate. 40 graduates out of 44 takers from UP Visayas-Iloilo Campus passed the exam with a passing rate of 90.91%. Graduates from UP Tacloban also distinguished themselves, with 21 passers out of 26 test-takers for a passing rate of 80.77%.

Among the successful examinees who attained the top ten results in the exam, 4 were from UP. Julianne Nicole Luban Vitug from UP Diliman took second place with an overall score of 89.50%. She was followed by Cassandra Marie Rico Entico in fifth place (88.50%) and Jacob Andrew Ng Ugsimar in shared ninth place (87.83%), both also from UP Diliman. Last but not least, Edward Joseph Cananua Labid from UP Tacloban came in shared tenth place, with a score of 86.67%. 

Out of the 10,136 test-takers who trooped to 18 testing centers across the country for the December exam, 3,058 passed. Hon. Noe G. Quiñanola, Chairman; Hon. Samuel B. Padilla, Vice Chairman; Hon. Gloria T. Baysa, Hon. Thelma S. Ciudadano, Hon. Gervacio I. Piator and Hon. Maria Teresita Z. Dimaculangan were the members of the Board of Accountancy in charge of the exam.
