The leads the country’s universities in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings 2025, released Nov. 6, 2024. The national university ranked No. 86 in the whole of Asia out of 984 higher education institutions assessed. Although this is a slight decline from its ranking last year of No. 78, UP still maintains its top spot among other universities in the country.
In the , UP ranks No. 20 out of 196 universities, leading the country’s higher education institutions. In the previous year, the university ranked No. 18 among the universities ranked in the region.Â
UP received an overall rating of 60.6 out of 100, scoring highest in Employer Reputation (94.4), which comprises 10% of the overall rating. The national university also earned a high rating in the International Research Network category (87.1), which also comprises 10% of the total rating. It is also rated highly in Academic Reputation (83), which contributes 30% to the total rating. The university’s Faculty Student Ratio also scored well (47.9), which contributes 10% to the overall ratings.
Several other Philippine universities also landed in the QS Asia University Rankings 2025. Ateneo de Manila University landed on the 142nd spot and De La Salle University ranked No. 163. Wrapping up what many consider as the Big Four universities is the University of Santo Tomas, landing at the 181st spot.
Peking University topped the with an overall rating of 100, followed by the University of Hong Kong with a score of 99.7. The National University of Singapore ranked third with a score of 98.9.
In , NUS leads the pack with an overall score of 98.9, followed by the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, which registered a rating of 98.3. NTU is also in the fourth spot for the whole of Asia. Closing the top three in the region is the Universiti Malaya, based in Kuala Lumpur, which had an overall rating of 94.8. UM also secured the No. 12 top spot in Asia.
