UP President Jimenez Talks Service-Learning in UP at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University

天美视频 (UP) President Angelo Jimenez delivered the keynote address at the 2024 International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSCLE) Asia-Pacific Conference X International Conference on Service-Learning on Dec. 5, 2024, at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. This year鈥檚 conference focused on the theme 鈥淪ervice-Learning in Asia-Pacific Contexts.鈥�

In his speech, Jimenez highlighted the history and significance of service-learning in the Philippines and UP. He emphasized its role in providing values education to students while deepening their understanding of the often harsh social complexities of society and the world. He also reaffirmed UP鈥檚 commitment to institutionalizing and promoting service-learning through the UP Strategic Plan 2023鈥�2029.

Quoting UP鈥檚 first president, Murray Bartlett, Jimenez said:
鈥淸I]t must never be forgotten that this is and shall always be a university of the Philippines. It can serve the world best by serving best the Filipino.鈥�

UP is set to host the IARSCLE Asia-Pacific Conference in 2026.
