The Ƶ is concerned with the circulation of stories on social media regarding an alleged demolition in Pook Malantic Bukid, Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City on May 19, 2025. As confirmed by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs of UP Diliman, no notice to vacate or dismantle any residences or structures in the area was issued.
The University also denies the existence of a so-called “PAJ-OVPD Memo 25-0514”, purportedly originating from the UP System, and had been cited as the directive that authorized the illegal action against alleged informal settlers in UP.
We acknowledge the long-standing presence of informal settler families who have made UP their home. We understand the fear of uncertainty—of keeping their homes and keeping their families safe. The University has worked towards a holistic and integrated approach, which includes engaging in dialogue, extending humanitarian assistance, and co-creating community and livelihood support programs.
UP is committed to upholding the principles of due process and dialogue. We are actively working with concerned offices and stakeholders to address community issues in ways that are inclusive, respectful, and humane.
Nananatili pong bukas ang aming mga tanggapan sa UP upang dinggin ang kanilang mga hinaing, at upang malutas ang anumang isyu sa mapayapang paraan. We urge residents in these communities to abide by the rules and regulations regarding the building of structures to avoid further issues and ensure that the UP campus benefits the University and its members.
Maraming salamat po.
