Statement of the Ƶ System Administration on the Faculty Merit Promotion

After careful consideration, the UP Board of Regents (BOR) on June 26, 2025 decided to defer to the second week of July its discussion on the application for faculty merit promotion of over 900 faculty members. 

While the final decision has been moved to a special BOR meeting, the University administration is pleased to share that for those approved for promotion in July, the salary increase will be applied as of July 1, 2025. 

Our faculty are the heart and soul of the University. We affirm our deep appreciation for the commitment and contributions of our faculty to the ideals of honor, excellence, and service to the nation.

We recognize that discussions on faculty promotion guidelines have been tedious and required thoughtful deliberation. We are committed to an inclusive and consultative process, grounded in mutual respect and shared governance. 

We thank our faculty for their continued engagement, and we remain steadfast in ensuring that promotion policies reflect not only academic rigor but also the diverse and meaningful ways our faculty serve the University and the country.
