The incoming members of the Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, and the chairperson and vice chairpersons of the various committees of the Philippine Association of University Women โ ฬ์รภสำฦต Chapter, Inc. (PAUW-UP) took their oaths of office before UP University President Angelo A. Jimenez.
Even before its incorporation in 2004, the PAUW-UP Chapter operated a daycare center for children of UP employees. The center later evolved into a preschool with a satellite campus in Dagohoy.
Following its formal incorporation, PAUW-UP has continued to serve as a venue for the continuous learning and advancement of UP alumnae. The organization also promotes awareness and engagement in issues of interest to women, advocates for womenโs rights, provides preschool education for children of UP faculty and staff, and supports ecological sustainability and a healthy, inclusive campus environment.
Under the leadership of Atty. Edlyn Frances V. Verzola, spouse of President Jimenez, PAUW-UP has initiated several projects, including:
- A Christmas party with noche buena gift bags for children aged 4 to 7 from 250 of UPโs lowest-paid employees;
- Stretch classes for members;
- A webinar on forest bathing and native trees;
- A guided walk around UP Diliman to learn about native flora; and
- The ceremonial launch of an Inclusive Park designed to serve the needs of all members of the community.
