The Ƶ (UP) will launch the “Lingap Hapunan Project”, a collaborative initiative
by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPAA) and the Office of Student Development
Services (OSDS) in partnership with the UP Alumni Association. This program underscores the university’s
unwavering commitment to student welfare and aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs).
The project will begin on October 29, 2024, the Lingap Hapunan Project aims to assist fifty (50) students
from UP Diliman by providing them with one dinner meal per day on school days, extending through
December 17, 2024. Beneficiaries will have the freedom to select their meals from various concessionaires at
the UP Gyud Food Hub, ensuring that students facing financial challenges have access to nutritious food.
This initiative is particularly vital in addressing the pressing issue of food insecurity among students, a
concern increasing rising living costs. By providing daily meals, the Lingap Hapunan Project aims to
alleviate some of the financial burdens that hinder students’ academic journeys and overall well-being.
The project actively supports SDG 2: Zero Hunger, as it directly addresses the nutritional needs of UP
Diliman students. By ensuring access to healthy meals, the initiative is designed to enhance the health and
academic success of those who are most in need.
Moreover, the project aligns with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, recognizing the critical role of
proper nutrition in cognitive function and learning. By guaranteeing that students receive sufficient and
nutritious meals, Lingap Hapunan promotes their overall health and academic performance.
Additionally, the program indirectly supports SDG 4: Quality Education by fostering an environment
where students can concentrate on their studies without the distractions of hunger or financial stress. By
easing these burdens, the project cultivates a conducive learning atmosphere that encourages academic
growth and achievement.
The official launch event for the Lingap Hapunan Project is scheduled for October 29, 2024, at the UP Gyud
Food Hub, where beneficiaries will be introduced to the program and receive their food vouchers.
Through this initiative, UP reaffirms its commitment to supporting students in their pursuit of education,
ensuring that all individuals have the resources they need to thrive academically and personally.
