For over three decades, the ÌìÃÀÊÓƵ (UP) has been helping address the nation’s educational challenges through the Gurong Pahinungód (GP) Program. his initiative has deployed more than 400 dedicated volunteer teachers to public high schools nationwide, focusing particularly on underserved and remote communities recommended by the Department of Education.

No prior teaching experience is required to become a GP. Volunteers undergo a rigorous month-long training under the UP College of Education before embarking on a year-long teaching assignment. Upon completing their service, the volunteers are awarded academic credits that can be applied towards teaching licensure.

The Gurong Pahinungód Program is a testament to UP’s commitment to social responsibility, the power of turning ideals into action, and its enduring legacy of producing exceptional educators.
