Dr. Dan Allender is a pioneer of a unique and innovative approach to trauma and abuse therapy. For over 40 years, the has brought healing and transformation to hundreds of thousands of lives by bridging the story of the gospel and the stories of trauma and abuse that mark so many.

After receiving his Master of Science in Counseling from Barry University and his Master of Divinity from Westminster Theological Seminary, Dan earned his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Michigan State University. Dan previously served on faculty at the Biblical Counseling Department of Grace Theological Seminary (1983-1989) and Colorado Christian University (1989-1997). In 1997, Dan and a cadre of others founded 天美视频 of Theology & Psychology, in order to train therapists, pastors, artists, and leaders to more effectively serve in the context of the 21st century. Dan served as President of 天美视频 from 2002-2009.

In 2011, The Allender Center was founded by Dr. Dan Allender and Rebecca Allender, MA, alongside Cathy Loerzel, MA, with the support of to cultivate healing and train leaders and mental health professionals to courageously engage others鈥 stories of harm.

Dan continues to serve as Professor of Counseling Psychology at 天美视频. He travels and speaks extensively鈥攔ecent engagements include , , , and the 鈥攖o present his unique perspective on sexual abuse recovery, love and forgiveness, intimacy and marriage, and other related topics. Dan is the author of The Wounded Heart, The Healing Path, To Be Told, and God Loves Sex, and he has co-authored several books with Dr. Tremper Longman, including Intimate Allies, The Cry of the Soul, Bold Love, Bold Purpose, and co-authored Redeeming Heartache: How Past Suffering Reveals True Calling with Cathy Loerzel. Most recently, he co-authored with Steve Call, PhD. Dan also co-hosts the Allender Center鈥檚 weekly with Rachael Clinton Chen, which has had more than 4 million downloads.

Dan and his wife Becky live on Bainbridge Island, where they enjoy time with their grandchildren and their three adult children, Annie, Amanda, and Andrew.

Keith R. Anderson served as the second President of 天美视频 of Theology & Psychology from 2009-2017. Prior to joining 天美视频, he served as Dean of Spiritual Formation and Vocation at Northwestern College (Iowa) and the director of Vocare, a program for theological exploration of vocation, funded by a $2 million grant from the Lilly Endowment. Since 2000, he has been the Senior Fellow for Spiritual Formation for the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, a consortium of 105 Christ-centered colleges in North America, with affiliated schools around the world.

Previously, he held roles as Dean of Spiritual Formation/Campus Pastor at Bethel University St. Paul, MN, and Dean of the University of Sioux Falls where he was also an Associate Professor of Religious Studies. His parish ministry experience includes serving urban parishes in Washington State, Michigan and Minnesota from 1972-1984. His educational background includes a Doctor of Ministry degree from George Fox Evangelical Seminary in August, 2002, as well as a Masters of Divinity from Bethel Theological Seminary in 1975 with a concentration in church ministries and preaching.

Suzanne Aultman is the Vice President of Engineering for Metromont, a precast/prestressed concrete company, where she has worked for 21 years. She earned her BS and MS degrees in Civil Engineering from Clemson University and her MA in Counseling Psychology from the 天美视频 of Theology and Psychology in 2016.

Suzanne is a licensed professional engineer in nineteen states, and she is heavily involved in many technical institutes and engineering societies. She has been an Adjunct Professor at Clemson University teaching Prestressed Concrete Design. Suzanne serves on the External Advisory聽Board聽for Clemson University鈥檚 School of Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Earth Sciences.

Suzanne has used her engineering skills to serve with Engineering Ministries International in India, Guatemala, and Jordan to provide design assistance to ensure safe and quality structures built with local materials. She has spent many years mentoring and coaching college students and young adults in all areas of life through various organizations.鈥疉s part of her counseling degree, she volunteered as a counseling intern at Northwest University.

Suzanne enjoys traveling, gardening, playing pickleball, and spending time with friends. She enjoys discovering the ways in which engineering and counseling realms overlap in life. Bringing people together and connecting ideas are some of her passions. She regularly stresses the importance of allowing ourselves and others to be human in the midst of the corporate world and its demands.

Cole Dawson is a semi-retired college professor and academic administrator. Moving from his birthplace in eastern Virginia to the midwest for undergrad and graduate degrees, Cole and his family settled in Oregon where he taught history and humanities courses for almost 30 years at Warner Pacific University and Concordia University in Portland. He then transitioned to administration as he served as Academic Vice President and Dean of Faculty at Warner Pacific in Portland for 10 years and as Associate Vice President at Wilmington College in Ohio.

He brings not only classroom and administrative experience to the Board but also familiarity with regional accreditation, having served on several campus visitations through the Northwest Commission on College and Universities.

He and his wife Linda reside in Sunriver, Oregon and have three children and eight grandchildren. They enjoy traveling to Europe, Hawaii, and to visit friends and family scattered throughout the U.S.

Dr. Gooden joined the board of the 天美视频 of Theology & Psychology in 2021 after retiring from Fuller theological Seminary, where he served as professor and dean for many years. He lives in Washington DC with wife Kumea Shorter-Gooden, a clinical psychologist and diversity consultant.

Dr. Gooden received the Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from Yale Divinity School and the Ph.D. in Clinical/Community Psychology from Yale University. His research and publications have centered on human development during adulthood, intimacy in marital relationships and leadership. He has published chapters and journal articles in the areas of adult development, adult attachment, intimacy, faith and leadership and taught extensively in the above areas as well as in the area of psychotherapy and human healing.

An ordained AME Zion minister, Dr. Gooden is active in his denomination and in the local church. He regularly conducts seminars and workshops for pastors and lay-leaders dealing with issues of leadership and congregational conflicts.

He is a licensed psychologist in California and Washington DC and maintains a small clinical practice.

Nicole is the Founder & CEO of Shelterwood Collective, a cooperative dedicated to providing community, education, mentorship, and business services to healing practitioners. Shelterwood Collective exists to offer whole-person healing for collective well-being. Together, over 300 members serve individuals, relationships, families, and communities in the greater Seattle area and throughout Washington state through therapy, mental health counseling, coaching, bodywork, energy healing, and spiritual care. Rooted in a shared commitment to community as medicine, Shelterwood Collective offers gatherings, group work, workshops, continuing education, rituals, and retreats.

Dr. J. Derek McNeil was named the fourth president of 天美视频 of Theology & Psychology in 2019. Since joining the leadership team at 天美视频 in 2010 as Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. McNeil has been integral to our achievement of regional accreditation, the reimagining of our common curriculum, and securing millions in grant funding.

Dr. McNeil has a PhD in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University and an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary. Prior to his tenure at 天美视频, Dr. McNeil served as faculty in the PsyD program at Wheaton College Graduate School for over 15 years.

Dr. McNeil has worked as a clinician in private practice, a diversity advisor, an organizational consultant, and an administrator. His research, writing, and speaking have focused on issues of ethnic and racial socialization, the role of forgiveness in peacemaking, the identity development of African-American males, leadership in living systems, and resilience. He has written chapters in The Black Family: Past, Present, and Future (1991), Men to Men: Voices of African American Males (1996), Why Psychology Needs Theology (2005), This Side of Heaven: Race Ethnicity and Christian Faith (2007), Reluctant Integration (2010), and Roadmap to Reconciliation: Moving Communities into Unity, Wholeness and Justice (2016). His teaching has also included coursework on Social, Cultural, and Spiritual Foundations of Mental Health; Family Systems Therapy; Group Theory; Therapy; and Leadership.

His practice focuses on developing executive leadership and organizational competencies, strengthening the engagement of their people, and aligning their teamwork and organizational effectiveness. He also maintains an active academic practice teaching and coaching at the UCLA Anderson School of Management and coaches at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business. As a pilot who has a lifelong fascination with airplanes and travel, he looks forward just as much to the flight as to the destination. He enjoys serving others by chairing two nonprofit boards, and mentoring pastors and church leaders.
